How to Choose a Golf School Vacation

How to Choose a Golf School Vacation

by Andre Sanchez

Its vacation time again and you are once again surfing the internet trying to find out how to choose a golf school vacation.  Why do you need to find out how to choose a golf school?  It should be easy to find a suitable venue for your vacation since the choice of school, or even vacation resort, should depend on your reason for needing a golf school.

If it is just to brush up on your game then any golf school will probably do, and your choice will then depend on where you choose for the vacation.  That will then depend on who is going with you.  If you have a partner, or the kids are coming too, then their needs will have an impact on where you go. You will find it very difficult to choose a place for your vacation that is not a short car ride away from a golf school, so let’s have a look at the procedures to follow so that you and those with you all enjoy the vacation.

Your partner might have no interest in golf, and whether the kids have or not is immaterial – they sure won’t want to go to a golf school with you.  They will want to go to Florida and visit Disney World, or perhaps the Grand Strand.  I that case there is Bird Golf School at the Mission Inn Golf resort in Orlando, and Myrtle Beach has a great school at the Golf Academy.  Your partner and kids can have a great time at either of these resorts while you enjoy yourself at the golf school.  There is no thought involved!

However, if you want a golf school vacation with your buddies, or foursome, then that is a different situation altogether.  In that case you might want to visit Las Vegas where can get great on one teaching at the Ken venture Golf Academy, or how about a great deal at the  Bruce Harmon school at the Rio Secco Golf Club with accommodation included at the Rio All-Suite Hotel Casino?  Play when you get out of school, but keep some dough in your socks in case you lose your shirt!

That’s how you choose a golf school vacation – decide who has to go, then cater for them before arranging your school.  An even better way is to decide exactly what aspects of your game need schooling. It’s easy enough to find a winter golf school where you can keep in trim till your local course opens up again, but if you want a specific problem ironed out, then you have to choose the right school.

Not all schools will be able to help you with your swing mechanics for the whole course, so you should check up on what is available before booking.  You should make a list of what you must have, then a second list of what you would like to have. If the first list includes keeping the kids happy, then that will have to be your first priority since nothing is worse than a week or two with whining complaining children to have to try to keep amused.  If you fail to do that, then you will wish you had stayed at home!

Then make up a short-list of schools near your chosen resort.  Contact each one and negotiate a price.  You might be able to get a better price in off-season for example, or perhaps you have a large party for which you can get a discount. Check off each of your first list until it is complete, and then see how much of the second list you can get. Don’t accept any offer that does not completely satisfy your initial needs.  You will be amazed at how what was impossible suddenly becomes available just before you ring off.

It might not be easy to get everything you want, but as long as you get all of the first list and some of the second, then you will have done well.  Don’t forget that is it your vacation too, and although you have helped to keep the family happy, you should also enjoy your own vacation. That means you getting what you want so don’t give in too much.  You can usually get your needs met, even if you have to try several possible golf schools before you get what you are looking for.

It’s not difficult to choose a golf school vacation as long as you keep in mind the needs of those traveling with you and also your own requirements.  Do not compromise just to get it done with, since an extra couple of hours searching could result in you enjoying your vacation that bit more. Make sure that you get your golf problem fixed, since you want to return home feeling it was all worthwhile and amaze your buddies with your new found swing, not to mention that extra forty yards on your pin-pint accurate drive!
