Private label products are very popular on the internet at the moment, and there are lots of websites offering them, either on a single sales basis, or as packages offered with a monthly subscription.  Without a doubt, if you are struggling for own product, private label products can be a better bet that affiliate programs as long as you feel able to sell and service your own product.

The advantage that an affiliate product has is that once you have sent the customer to the affiliate site, you have nothing else to do.  Your principal provides the sales page so does the hard sell.  They also take the payment and deal with any subsequent questions, complaints or requests for a return of the money under the guarantee.  Naturally, they have designed the sales page and have a checkout and credit card payment system on their website.  You need none of that.  You just collect your affiliate check every month.

However, if you decide to sell your own product, and it is well known on the internet that that is where the real money lies, you have to do all that yourself.  So, please, if you decide that you want to make proper money online, make that decision with your eyes wide open.  It is not true what many tell you.  Making money in internet marketing is not easy, and you don’t get rich overnight.  You need your own website, you need a cart system and a means of accepting payments, and you have to be able to write not only web page content, but also great sales letters and keep in touch regularly with your prospects and customers

Experience has shown that the average sale needs around seven or eight exposures to the product before somebody decides to purchase.  You need a means of providing this, and this is where the proverbial ‘list’ comes in. You have to collect the email addresses and at least the first names of as many people as possible that visit your website, and have to try to get these without them only signing up in order to get the freebies that you are offering if they do so.  You want a list of people that are focused and targeted to your product, so don’t offer too much, and make what you offer in exchange for their email address totally relevant to your product, or range of products. 

Private Label Products are a good choice for a beginner to internet marketing because they have advantages over producing your own product, and over buying resale rights to other products.  Firstly, they are generally written by experts in their field and are worth the price you pay.  If you are new to this game, your own products might not be suitable to internet selling, and the information they provide might have been already been oversubscribed.  All the easy stuff on most niches has already been catered for.

A private label product, on the other hand, has likely been written with private label rights in mind, and will be designed by expert authors to provide a unique slant on a topic, or provide information that is definitely worth having, even to experts.  It is not only beginners that purchase PLR products, as they are known as, but also experienced internet marketers, who can see a market for the product.  They tend to be well written with extremely useful information on their subject, and are well worth purchasing to sell on to others. 

However, there are some steps you have to take to make your PLR product unique to you, rather than just the same as everybody else are trying to sell.  Most do not take these steps, so if you do then you will have an advantage over them. 

The first is to change the title.  Most who have the private rights will try to sell the product under the same title, and you have to make it different, so the first step is to change the title.  Then name yourself as author. That is what Private Label Rights mean:  you name yourself as author. So now you are the author of a product with an original title.  All you need now is a change of content.

Check the content and start to change it. You won’t be able to change it all, but you should make some radical changes to, for example the main chapter headings and selected passages of content. Add some fresh content of your own, and perhaps an original chapter or two.  Then you are ready to sell it as an original product.

While all the others who purchased the Private Label Rights are competing against each other trying to sell the same thing, you have a unique product.  That is the way to sell Private Label products.
