Jetset Definition

Jetset Definition

Jet set is not any universal term; rather it is a journalistic term. The term was used very first time to describe an international social group of wealthy people. It denotes the wealthy people and their organizing and participating in social activities all around the world. It entirely depicts their way of living and displays that are unreachable to ordinary people. The term was later introduced to replace another term using and denoting the same meaning. Jetset replaced café society which was also used to denote a society of wealthy people. It also originated from the lifestyle of traveling from one stylish or exotic place to another via jet airplanes.

The term only originated in the 50s when the wealth was coming in due to the various reasons. More wealth offered a chance to the people to own their vehicle for any travel related purposes, and it was almost not possible for any ordinary people to think about it.
The term brought to the fore the lives of opulent and luxury which could only available to the wealthy persons. People managed to garner huge amount of assets and took control over their lives and spends lavishly. Spending this way led them to own their personal means to do the air traveling.

They took to the traveling along with their kids this way and this led to the generation of the term which was almost unheard of till the date. Being an exclusive terms, it could not gain the enough advertisement and restricted to the elite classes only. While jet passenger facility in the 1950s was originally marketed for the most part to the rich, its opening ultimately resulted in a significant democratization of air travel. At the moment, air travel is practical however devoid of glory, and the term jet set no longer has distinction. The term, although faded it may be, may still be convincing in the present day if it is implicit to mean those who can have enough money to travel in privately-owned or leased aircraft.

Such number of people is low and far in between. So the term could not attain wide recognition as was expected and restricted to a certain class. The percentage of people who use their private vehicle is less and in some cases, almost nothing more than the fractions. So, jetset is almost obsolete term which rarely gets attention, though has its significance though.
