Jetset Shoes 2

Jetset Shoes 2

There are few women who do not have a shoe fetish. How many times have you looked through the glass window at those masterpieces and sighed? How many do you have in your closet that you haven’t worn for years, but are still precious to you? You are secretly willing to starve yourself or survive on bread alone if you know you can save the next two months’ paychecks to buy that designer shoe you saw in the magazine the other day at the salon.

And now designers have found out the solution to your love affair. Now you have jet-set shoes that do not require robbing a bank to get them. And praised be the lord, designers have chosen to save our arches too! Heels have come down, thin ancient Roman sandals and sleek platforms now rule the roost.

Ancient is suddenly so now! Roman flip-flops have taken over the world of fashion. And not just Romans, your regular flip-flops now have a new look with sparkles, jewels, diamante and ethnic influences. Designers have gone the extra length to add a tiny heel to your flip-flop and an ankle strap as well for that ultra-chic Bohemian look. For an even more flash try rhinestone encrusted buckles or little gold hearts dangling from the straps. Oh, and while you are dreaming of the open-toed flip-flop, get yourself the best pedicure you can.

And then there are the ballet flats with their timeless innocent appeal. A perfect slip on that maximizes your feet’s comfort, you can wear them from office to the café in the evening and still look very stylish. Feel like a princess in them, delicate as they are. Dress them up with diamantes, add to their delicate appeal with laces, feathers, a tiny bit of fur and bows or look demurely wild in leopard prints, and you have the best dressed feet in town!

Oh, and there are the sling-backs. Play with them; pick your clothes according to what your feet are wearing. Sling-backs suit every need. You can wear them with your pantsuit to office, a blouse, peasant skirts, or the good old shorts.

For the oh-so-desirable espadrilles, pick from a range of canvas, linen, cotton and vegan to satisfy your style craving and still spend the day in very comfortable footwear. Add a cork heel to them and you’ve managed the sexiest footwear among your girlfriends.

Who can forget the stilettos that give more appeal to that little black dress in your closet? Get them in red satin, or black patent leather to be the high priestess of fashion. A little embellishment on the straps will not hurt either. Or look to the orient and pick heavily jeweled straps on golden or silver shoes for that truly princess-like look.

At home or at the beach slip into crocs. Shearling liners provide ultra comfort and a feeling of luxury. Remove the lining and slip into the rubber clogs and run to the grocery, and still look incredibly stylish.

And men, do not let yourselves down on shoes either. There is a good deal of sartorial pleasure to be derived from putting your best foot forward. Besides that classic Oxford number and the penny loafer, pick casual cap-toes and monk straps. Stay away from brown and stick to your blacks, oxes and honeys for colour.

Let your feet do the talking, er walking…!
