Were I asked to provide ten adsense tips to improve your wealth, they would mainly be associated with the design and placement of your Adsense blocks, although there are also other important considerations to take into account.  Placement is not everything:  size also counts! So does colour and the theme and design of your website.

Each person involved with Adsense will provide a different ten, though some will be common to all lists.  For most people, the answer to Adsense riches will be to generate as many simple minisites as possible, each on a different theme, and fill them with adsense blocks.  For others it would be to have one larger website, with a number of different pages, each on a different topic of the main theme, and each with its own specific Adsense.  My number one tip is to get the right niche. Choose a niche that you understand to start with, and then later you can go on to niches that you are unfamiliar with, but have the Adsense experience to overcome the lack of knowledge.

The second tip is to choose some keywords for each of your pages. To do that, you need a good keyword finder and there are several free ones on the internet.  What you need are keywords with a reasonable high demand but relatively low supply.  You can assess the supply simply by typing the keyword into Google, and finding the number of other results. Less than a million are definitely worth competing against.  That might seem a lot, but most of them will be poor sites that do not provide much information on the keyword itself.

Once you have chosen a niche, the next tip is to check out the keywords you have chosen using the Google keyword tool, or Google KeywordToolExternal, and set it to display the Adwords price per click for the keywords you enter. You are looking for a ppc price of $3 or over in order to make money.  $1 is not good, but better than the 10 cents that many newbies to Adsense are getting. If your keyword is not paying well, then use the same tool to find others pertaining to your niche that pay better.

Now design your website around your niche.  The fourth tip is to regard an Adsense site as you would any other, and optimize each page for a single keyword.  Put your keyword as the title in H1 tags, and put it in bold and underlined text. Use H2 tags on any subsidiary keywords you have on your home page, but don’t use too many. 

Fifthly, write good content.  Don’t forget that the Adsense ads Google provide you with are based on the content of your web page.  Write good useful content that will keep a visitor on the page long enough and interested enough to click on a link or two. Use lots of text relevant to the subject of the keyword, and you will get the ads that you want.  If you don’t get these ads, then write again slightly differently so that your text is relevant to the keyword, or theme of your page.

The final five Adsense tips relate to the choice of Adsense blocks and their placement.  First, stand back and look at your webpage. Where are the eyes of your visitors going to be drawn to? The Google heatmap indicates just below the top of the page and also the page center. Search for the Google Adsense heatmap online:  this is very useful information for anybody using Adsense. Secondly, consider the format of the ads you are intending to use.

Your link text should be in blue, since that is the colour associated with navigation links.  Remove all the borders and format the background to be the same as that of your page.  The URL should be in black, as well as any description, and the ads will then look less like adverts and more like links.  Third,  place a line of Link text ads across the top below any graphics and below the title of your page. A 468 x 15 link ad will be enough, with 4 or 5 links in the line.  Visitors might believe this to be your horizontal navigation bar and click on it. 

The most read ads tend to be large rectangles right in the center of the page, so put one there.  First create a table the same width as your ad and align it to the left or the center. Place the ad block in there, formatted as above, and that will likely be your most clicked.  You can also add another two ad blocks in addition to your link unit.  Try one down the left hand side, and your visitors might confuse that with a navigation bar, and perhaps another rectangle inside your text, towards the bottom right.

Fifthly, try placing your last set of ads below graphics blocks. Make small tables above each of the ads in a line of three or four, and place a graphic in each that relates to your niche.  This can increase your clicks five times, since people associate the ads with the graphics.  It is very effective.

Finally, tip five, and tenth in total, test.  Use the channels that Google provide to allow you to track the Adsense blocks that are making most money, or getting most clicks.   You can move those not earning money and try them elsewhere.  That is the best tip of all, and why it has been left till last. It is true of everything you do in internet marketing. Test, test, then test again!
