The Top 5 Investments Of The Wealthy

The Top 5 Investments Of The Wealthy

The rich have money to invest in many things.  They are able to make more money and sometimes even live off of their investments.  What are the wealthy putting their money into these days?  The rich have diverse portfolios and probably dabble a little bit in many types of investments.  Here are the top 5 investments of the wealthy.

Real Estate – The number one top investment that all wealthy people make is in real estate.  They start small and move on to larger investments.  They learn to understand the real estate market and follow the trends.  They don’t keep investments longer than they make money.  And they are able to look at real estate as a game.  They can buy, sell and trade with the ultimate goal to make money.  When something isn’t working they get rid of it and move on.

Stocks – Buy low and sell high is the simple way of looking at making money with stocks.  While it isn’t that easy it doesn’t have to be rocket science.  The wealthy learn to understand the stock market and can see when trends are happening.  They keep up on the stock market every day to make sure they have the right mix of stocks.  They know when to sell to get the best profit.  If they haven’t taken the time to learn themselves they rely on a private investment financial planner to help them keep their portfolio straight and to advise them on the best stocks to buy and sell.

Bonds – Bonds are considered a long-term investment and are a part of many investment portfolios.  They take a long time to mature and produce a fixed yearly income until that time.  Most bonds mature in years so they are a good investment for the future.  They are a safe investment and while the return is not high it is a good thing to count on.  Once the bond has matured they need to be cashed in because the return on investment starts to decrease after that time.  A good portfolio contains bonds in many varied stages of maturity.

Mutual Funds – Mutual funds are a combination of many stocks and bonds and the return fluctuates accordingly.  Your mutual fund is only as good as the financial group who put it together.  You can find mutual bonds that are riskier than others.  Most wealthy people have a mix of several types of mutual funds in their financial portfolio. They often take larger risks than others so they may have a mutual fund that is riskier than most.

Gold / Coins / Art – Unconventional investments are the earmark of the eccentric millionaire.  The wealthy have enough money to purchase investments that are also hobbies and furniture.  They often include things such as exotic or rare coins, gold bars, important artwork and the like.  These items appreciate in value greatly over time although the wealthy really don’t need to sell them.  They are more of a way to combine investments with status.
