A little shimmer here and a little glitter there…that’s what today’s stars are made of. Or perhaps so you think. Being a star has definitely got a lot to do with fame and success but what is more important is the management public impression, and also money. You must have noticed the most recent phenomenon, much lauded as the jet- set generation. Well, this is what refers to a generation where affluence generously visits the young. And this affluence needs effective management without which it cannot attain its fullest potential.

So what have the top wealth managers got to do with jet- setters, young and otherwise? Well, the answer is quite simple - they are appointed so that the immense wealth the jet- setters amass can be taken care of properly. Let’s approach the topic in another way. Suppose you have more than a million dollars in hand. What do you think you’d do then? It’s definite that the very first reaction is going to be something like ‘Whoa! What do I do with this?’ Now imagine jet- setters who earn millions of dollars and have no time to ensure their safekeeping. This is where wealth managers have to play a very crucial role. They are not only the financial advisers to jet- setters but also trusted confidantes.

Now coming to the position of a top wealth manager, the first thing that is to be mentioned is the kind of relationship that is forged between the manager and his client. Most celebrities hit a dead end with excesses once they have managed to earn more than they need. At this point wealth managers take up the responsibility of handling every aspect of their earnings and assets. You might not know but the lavish lifestyle of jet- setters is not all that good always. In most cases they become members of high- flying society clubs and end up shelling out a fortune for this purpose. In certain cases jet- setters do not know what to do with so much money and hence have a tendency to squander away everything. Believe it or not, this, in many cases, leads to absolute bankruptcy. To avoid arriving at a point where they have no resource to fall back on jet- setters appoint wealth managers.

But contrary to what you think, a top wealth manager actually has much more to look forward to than just stock responsibilities. To every jet- setter, the wealth manager is like his right hand man. S/He arranges for the protection of property and also handles investment aspects. Top wealth managers are also known to provide sound advice to their clients on financial issues of international importance. The dividing line in a career like this is hard to understand and why not? Wealth managers have to deal with the elite and have to acquire similar tastes to get into the groove. You will have difficulty to discern the world in which wealth managers operate- this is the world of the moneyed and the privileged and all functions border on frivolity on one hand and seriousness on the other. The traps are many in number but the question is will you get lured?
