Many of us have never traveled first class.  There is a certain awe about it that only those who have experienced it can overcome.  We all know what a normal day of travel is, but what is it like to spend a day traveling first class?  Here is a rundown on the typical first class experience.

9:00 A.M. The limousine arrives to take you to the airport.  Inside the limo you have a television, radio and beverage service all at your fingertips.  There is also a phone and computer access for your laptop.  You enjoy an ice-cold bottle of water while carrying on business on your phone. 

10:00 A.M.  You arrive at the airport and are directed to a separate check-in area for your airline.  Once checked in you can wait for your flight in the airline lounge, specifically for business class and first class patrons. Walking into the lounge is like stepping onto a different planet.  The hustle and bustle and noise of the airport are gone and replaced with soft music and a relaxing atmosphere. Here at the lounge you can relax in soft seating or take a short snooze in a special nap room.  There are beverages available as well as some food items.  If there is anything you need all you have to do is ask and the concierge will gladly fetch it for you. You can watch television, pop in a DVD or plug in your laptop to high speed Internet.

11:30 A.M.  Your flight is called.  You gather your things and head to the gate.  The first class cabin is allowed to pre-board so you are whisked on without having to wait in line.  The first class cabin is spectacular.  The 8 hour flight will be like sitting in your living room.  A standard amenity on most airlines is a sleeper seat that can lie flat.  Some even offer sleeping pods or suites where you can separate yourself from others with a curtain.

First class fight is impressive.  The cabin is small, usually holding 8 to 12 people.  There is one flight attendant assigned to every 2 to 4 people to ensure that your every need is met. You can watch television or a movie or read one of many newspapers and magazines at your disposal.  There are snacks and beverages.   You can remove your shoes and wear slippers.  When you want to relax you can get a pillow and blanket. 

4:00 P.M.  Dinner is served on board the flight.  Your dinner may be a gourmet event that rivals some of the best restaurants on land. In fact, some airlines employ chefs for long flights so you can order meals cooked to your specifications.  You are treated to wonderful food and drink.  The rest of the flight includes more pampering. 

7:00 P.M. Your flight lands and you and the others in first class are the first group off the plane.  Your luggage may be brought to a separate turnstile where the hotel limo driver waits for you.  You are driven to your hotel in luxury where you will spend your vacation at the pool and getting spa treatments. You can settle into your room, order room service and a drink before bed.
