Most people don't know it, but what you do in the first two days of joining an affiliate program is so important that it will decide whether you succeed with it or end up like most people—a miserable and frustrated failure.

Take Advantage Of The Initial Enthusiasm

Chances are that in the first two days your enthusiasm will still be high for the brand new program that you will have just joined. This is the best frame of mind to help you learn quickly and also to start to implement some of the things you need to do to start generating hot leads and prospects. After the first few days this enthusiasm will tend to diminish and not only will it be easy to give up, but the reduction in fervor will definitely show in the way you do things.

In other words, it is very important to use the inertia of the first few days to drive you, as an affiliate as close to success as you possibly can in two short days. There is also the fact that the foundation of anything is very important and the tasks that you will need to do in the initial two days will have a lot to do with laying foundations.

It Is Important To Estimate The Response Rate

One of the most common reasons that causes affiliates to give up on a new program has something to do with unrealistic expectations. The result of this is that quite often online entrepreneurs will start by having very high expectations about converting traffic that arrives at the site into actual affiliate sales. That is why despair will quickly set in when they realize that even after driving hundreds of targeted hits to their affiliate sites, they will still not have made a single sale. They will therefore very easily give up and that will be the end of the matter.

However for those with realistic stats on the possible conversion rate, getting discouraged will be a lot harder. This is why it is so important to ensure that in the first few days of joining an affiliate program, you have a realistic estimate of how much traffic you will require on average to make a sale.

Generally working with a ratio of 1:1000 is a realistic place to start. This means that you will require 1,000 unique visitors to register a single sale.

Decide How You Will Generate Targeted Traffic

The other very crucial thing to do in the first few days is to decide how you are going to direct targeted traffic to your site.
